Killing Eve season 3 has finished and the wait for the fourth begins. With this in mind, I will be doing a weekly rewatch of the show starting tonight with the first ever episode, and this inspired me to do this post, which will be split into two parts. This post will focus on what should/shouldn’t happen in season 4, and the next post will focus on actual predictions.
After this, I will stop writing about the show until we receive any further updates on the next season and the future of the show.
I have made 12 points (In honour of the twelve) with 6 should and 6 shouldn’t do things for Laura Neal’s Killing Eve season 4.
Should
1. Explore Villanelle and Eve as a genuine couple, and look at the dynamics and how that would work.
2. Feature Phoebe Waller-Bridge in a cameo role, although having her as a genuine supporting character (I.e. head of the 12) would probably be a bit too on the nose and feel too much like a wink to the camera, but a small cameo could be so effective.
3. Be about Eve, Villanelle and potentially Carolyn/Konstantin teaming up to take on the 12.
4. Feature funny, carefree, childish, adventurous Villanelle from the first two seasons. After the fascinating and necessary arc Villanelle went on in Season 3 to really discover herself, it would be nice to see her not suffering this season and return to the care free woman she was at the start of the show.
5. Give us another scene with Sandra Oh, Jodie Comer, Fiona Shaw, and Kim Bodnia all together.
6. It should set up season 5 as the final season. This would allow for the plot to naturally play out without dragging it on too long, and would also allow the in demand Jodie Comer to continue her meteoric Hollywood rise and not have to turn down multiple films because of the show, but will also give fans enough satisfying content from the show. It would obviously be a dream to have Phoebe Waller-Bridge return to write the final season, but I imagine that is very unlikely right now.
Bonus – Bring back Elena.
Shouldn’t
1. Keep Villanelle and Eve separate again for most of the season, this has happened a lot for good reason but the show is at its best when they are together and the story now demands they are together instead of more ‘cat and mouse’.
2. End with Villanelle dying. It isn’t shocking and it won’t be satisfying, think of a better development of her arc. Killing her would be a huge mistake.
3. Feature Ruby Rose in any role. The rumours have started but I hope that’s all they are.
4. Feature the return of Niko or Geraldine. They are now unnecessary and don’t need to take up screen time.
5. Try and be funny with the location title cards. This really took me out of some of the episodes and it didn’t work, as the title cards have been really effective and simple in previous seasons.
6. Sideline Eve in favour of supporting characters. She’s the titular character and Sandra Oh deserves season 1 level screen time again.
Long live Killing Eve. Long live Villaneve.
I love your post and all of your writing. I just wonder beyond what you think SHOULD happen. What are your thoughts about Eve and Villanelle’s relationship? In all of the interviews the actors (especially Sandra Oh) answers and the words they put around Eve and Villanelle relationship is that they’re going in a different direction in a more emotional one) (that implies a profound bond but not in a romantic way and the sex attraction has gone wish is sad.

Thank you! I have done a post of predictions for next season too. I have seen the interviews but they have been like this every year, I think ignore their interviews mostly. I think it’s clear Villanelle and Eve are sexually attracted to each other, and hopefully that is explored even more next season.
