The Simpsons is an institution and it is a part of pop culture that nearly all of us have consumed in some way, at some point in our lives.
However, beyond that, it is also simply a really great show, especially in the first decade or so that it has been showing.
In this season, the show is established enough to be able to make meta references to itself, experiment with topics and themes, and flesh out the world of the show by giving episodes to more supporting characters, as opposed to relying on Homer being the centre of every story.
It genuinely hilarious at times and is one of the ultimate ‘easy watches’ which is what makes it perfect for this stressful time the world is going through right now.
A personal stand out here is not necessarily the funniest episode, but the episode where Homer and Grandpa go on the road selling a magic product and learn a lot about their relationship has been one that has stuck with me for years.
