Opening episode ‘Sex, Pies, and Idiot Scrapes’ is a great two-hander between Homer and Flanders, exploring one of the best relationships on the show. Having them in a buddy cop style setting is very smart and they bounce off each other perfectly, providing the best episode of the season.

‘How the Test was Won’ features some strong concepts and gets some good laughs too. Both the Skinner centric and Homer centric sub-plots are effective and that makes for a strong episode.

‘Four Great Women and a Manicure’ has a concept that’s definitely worth exploring but ends up falling into a trap of becoming a weak, anthology style episode. These are the episodes of the show that I like the least.

Overall, it is a season with some quite love lows and some very high highs, evening out to be another solid but mostly disappointing season of everyone’s favourite animated family.
