Earlier today, the trailer for this project leaked on Twitter and Zack Snyder launched a completely unexpected and quite childish attack on a critic who commented that it didn’t look much different from the theatrical version, and even used the phrase that “his film is for grown ups” which are words I feel like he may live to regret. Anyway, as for the panel and reveals itself…
Following the spectacular failure of ‘Justice League’ in 2017, where Zack Snyder was removed from the film during production due to a family tragedy, Joss Whedon took over and the rest is history. However, after huge online support, Warner Bros agreed to allow Snyder to release his own cut from the footage he saved, and have it release on HBO Max.
In the panel itself:
We got confirmation that it will be released as a four episode mini-series, with each episode an hour long and it will then be bundled together as a film after. HBO Max hope it will be their Mandalorian and I think they might be right. This is going to be a huge deal and is the perfect distribution decision.
As for the trailer:
The choice of music, ‘Hallelujah’, is the most hilariously Zack Snyder choice for a trailer but it does work to add a sense of grandeur to events, most of which we have already witnessed these scenes before so that is important.
I think the most disappointing thing about the trailer for me is that most of it did seem like what I had already seen, and after all the hype most of these shots were years old to me.
One thing I noticed is that this may be our first and only look at Kiersey Clemons as Iris West so that should be fascinating.
While I like the epic scale of this, the original trailers also seemed epic and the film was a disaster. I’m really excited to see new stuff from these actors, especially the differences with Superman, and I’m glad Zack finally gets to show his vision, but after all the wait, this trailer didn’t do it for me.
Let’s see in 2021 when it actually releases what this project is like…
