A United Artists Picture, Written by Richard Maibaum, Johanna Harwood, Berkely Mather, Directed by Terence Young.
This film will forever be iconic as the movie that launched a movie franchise that is still going today and shaped parts of cinema, and also introduced many of the tropes and signature flourishes that are just a part of our culture now with Bond.
In all honesty, the film itself isn’t that great, but for 1962 it was clearly a big deal and at its core, it’s a throughly enjoyable spy romp filled with action, comedy, and attractive people.
Sean Connery is a very charismatic presence (even with his hilariously changing accent) and you never want to take your eyes off him.
The franchise gets much better from here, but this really laid the groundwork for everything that would come after.
