A Lionsgate Picture, Written and Directed by Burr Steers.
Certain films are never made to win awards or be critical darlings, and even necessarily to be regarded as a ‘good movie’ but instead as a simply enjoyable film, and this is one. It is a real guilty pleasure for me.
I honestly would’ve liked to see a direct Pride and Prejudice adaptation with this cast because Lily James is a perfect Elizabeth Bennett, but this horror/comedy version is just as entertaining.
It is very trashy, but it is funny enough and action filled enough to maintain the audience attention throughout.
Matt Smith provides one of the funniest supporting turns I have seen in a film for years, and Lily James, as mentioned before, is a perfectly cast Elizabeth Bennett.
This is by no means a perfect film, some may argue it’s not even a good one, but it’s certainly one I enjoyed.
