A Sony Picture, Written by Chris Bremner, Peter Craig, Joe Carnahan, Directed by Adil El Arbi, Bilall Fallah.
On paper this seemed like exactly the sort of film that is destined to flop in the modern era, a 90s hit from a very different era, returning without its original director. However, what we got is much closer to Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle than Terminator: Dark Fate.
This franchise is never going to be peak cinema, but what this film delivers is a great mix of nostalgia and fresh ideas, with some good comedy, a strong reflection on its movie stars careers, and well done action sequences.
Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are both absolutely perfect in these roles and they are having real fun here.
There are a lot of really good additions to the cast, with the ones of the ‘new era’ that really stood out to me are Paola Nunez, Alexander Ludwig, and Vanessa Hudgens’. Hopefully they return in big roles for the sequel.
Due to the critical and box office success, Bad Boys 4 has already been announced, and I for one cannot wait.
